A GitHub-style habit tracker: your habits as a contribution grid

Last updated:

If you write code, you know the contribution grid on GitHub: lots of small cells, one per day, coloured by what happened that day. Habit Tracker Grid shows your habits on the same principle. Every day you made a habit lights up. Skip one and the gap stays visible.

What it looks like in the app

  • Every habit gets its own card with its own grid. Tap a day and its cell lights up.
  • Days you made sit side by side. Your streak grows visibly, day by day.
  • A full month fits on one screen.
  • Every card gets its own colour, which you set in the habit’s editor.

A whole year on one card

The closest thing to the contribution grid is the year view. Switch from “Month” to “Year” above the list, and every card shows a whole year: one column per week, five levels of brightness depending on how far you got that day.

How far you got matters most for habits with a goal, a unit and a step size, say 20 pages in steps of 5. Whether a card shows the calendar year or the last twelve months, you set on the “Settings” tab under “Year view”.

What works without Premium

The grid and the month and year views are part of the free version, which covers up to 2 habits. You need no account, and there are no ads. Premium lifts the limit of 2 habits and adds all themes, your own background image and advanced statistics. What it costs is on the pricing page.
